Consumer watchdogs issues consumer warnings about various dietary supplements time and again. Athletic Greens or the product AG1 was not yet affected by this. However, AG1 from Athletic Greens always causes a stir (both positive and negative) simply because of the amount of 75 whole food ingredients it contains. Above all, because many people do not even know the individual ingredients and cannot assign them, the actually good ingredients are quickly put in a negative light. Especially in the western world, where some of these ingredients do not occur at all, many people fear allergies or intolerances when taking an Athletic Green Shakes. But what is the truth of this Athletic Greens criticism? We have gone deeper is detail and also look at what doctors and pharmacists say about Athletic Greens.

Athletic Greens missing ingredients

Yes, AG1 by Athletic Greens contains an extremely large number of ingredients that can have a positive effect on general health. Nevertheless, this shake is no guarantee for a healthy life. Especially if you eat a rather unhealthy diet apart from an Athletic Greens shake. Unfortunately, there are a few important ingredients that are not found in AG1, but which we need for a healthy life. We would like to go into this briefly here:

New Athletic Greens branding in AG1

Breaking news: Athletic Greens® has rebranded its core product from Athletic Greens to AG1®. The 1 stands for "the one and only Supplement" which is needed for daily health nutrition!
In any case, the content, quality, and price remain unchanged.
As a result of the rebranding, the globally distributed packaging is now completely environmentally friendly. The new AG1 name also emphasizes that the Greens supplement isn't just for "athletic people," but can be consumed by anyone looking for healthy and complete nutrition. Here is a picture showing Athletic Greens before and after it was changed to AG1: Athletic Greens vs AG1 before and after*advertising

AG1 Promo Offer

There is a limited-time offer for AG1 for this month. If you order your first order during February 2023 you'll get a pouch of AG1 with 30 servings along with a ton of free extras. As a result, one does not only get the Greens supplement AG1® with 75 ingredients for one month, but in addition also the following products of the company Athletic Greens® as a gift:
  1. One bottle of the sunshine vitamin D3-K2 (lasts for a year with daily use)
  2. 5 free Travelpacks (to enjoy a yummy AG1 Shake while traveling)
  3. A premium jar using the new AG1 design
  4. A dosing spoon to match the new AG1 jar is also provided
  5. An AG1 shaker. The bottle also features the new AG1 logo. A fancy way to shake your daily AG1

Here's why it was time to rebrand the popular Athletic Greens supplement: AG1 Athletic Greens

Athletic Greens Omega 3

In fact, we also find it a pity that AG1 by Athletic Greens does not contain any Omega3. Basically, it would be great if Athletic Greens would simply add flaxseed to its product mix. This would mean that Athletic Greens would contain healthy fiber and healthy oils from Omega 3 and Omega 6 in addition to another ingredient. Other nuts or seeds would also work and in our opinion would only improve the product. Unfortunately, this is not yet the case, so we can only recommend adding a healthy Omega 3 oil to the daily Athletic Greens AG1 Shake.

Athletic Greens Protein

AG1 does not contain a significant amount of protein. This should therefore urgently be integrated into the daily routine. Whether through a protein shake (this would have the advantage that you can take a so-called Whey powder directly with the Athletic Green shake together) or through a protein-rich diet.

Athletic Greens Vitamin D3

The human body is able to produce certain amounts of vitamin D on its own, but especially in northern latitudes or in autumn and winter, vitamin D production is unfortunately usually not enough, so that we should supply it from outside. Many dietary supplements therefore now add vitamin D. This is not the case with AG1 by Athletic Greens. At least not directly. Because as a current promotion Athletic Greens offers a separate bottle of vitamin D3 K2 for free with the Athletic Greens order, with which you can cover your needs for 1 year. The combination of vitamin D3 and K2 shows that Athletic Greens has done its homework in this area and wants to give it to its customers in the right form. The vitamin D3 K2 is supplied in a tasteless oil that can be used to drip one drop into the mouth every day via a pipette.

Athletic Greens Dietary Fibres

Unfortunately, AG1 does not contain any dietary fibre as you would find in lentils, chickpeas or other legumes. For a healthy diet, we therefore recommend that you integrate them regularly into your daily routine.

Athletic Greens no meal replacement

athletic greens huel shake
With only 50 calories per shake, AG1 by Athletic Greens cannot be considered a meal. Neither a saturation nor a calorie balance is nearly reached. If you plan to do so, you should consider taking Athletic Greens in combination with a meal replacement like Huel. In this context, our comparative test Athletic Greens vs Huel is also very interesting, in which we came to the same conclusion that a combination of Athletic Greens and a meal replacement shake would be ideal, because this often also clarifies the problem with the missing protein / protein.

Athletic Greens flatulence

An Athletic Greens side effect of which one reads on the internet in combination with Athletic Greens are bloating or flatulence.

flatulenceBut this is a fallacy. Provided you have no allergy or intolerance to any of the Athletic Greens ingredients, Athletic Greens has a positive effect on general intestinal health. Although it takes one to two weeks for the prebiotics and probiotics contained in Athletic Greens to take effect in the intestine, Athletic Greens has a positive long-term effect on the bacterial culture in the intestine. This in turn has a positive effect on existing flatulence, so that existing flatulence should disappear over time.

Athletic Greens Urine

We ourselves have made the experience (and hear it from first-time users again and again) that after the first shake you can get a neon-colored urine.

UrineThis is simply because the body cannot use all nutrients at the beginning. One then reads again and again reports that with the Greens Shakes and other supplements you pay a lot of money for a little colored urine.
But we can be reassured that this effect is already gone after the third or fourth shake and the body can then use the contained nutrients and ingredients much better. You have to imagine it like a rusty machine that is only brought back to full speed.

Athletic Greens headache

Occasionally, test persons report headaches when taking AG1 by Athletic Greens. Of course, they should temporarily stop taking the product and take it again at a later date to rule out that it is due to AG1.

caution:
Although an Athletic Greens AG1 Shake provides you with the nutrients and vitamins of fruit and vegetables, you should not be under the misapprehension that you don't need to eat after a shake. As said before Athletic Greens is not a meal replacement. Per shake it only brings together 50 calories. That is about the calorie balance of an apple!

So you still have to take a meal to supply the body with energy. Otherwise, reactions such as headaches can occur, but these are not caused by AG1, but by a lack of food. The body sends these hunger signals as a sign of headaches.

Athletic Greens Consumer Centre

Athletic Greens is also mentioned in connection with the german consumer advice centre. This surprised us at first. But in our opinion, there is no reason for concern here. The consumer advice centre itself has not made any negative feedback about the Athletic Greens company or the AG1 product. It is rather a general statement of the consumer advice centre, stating that dietary supplements such as AG1 from Athletic Greens are not absolutely necessary if one eats a healthy diet. At the same time, one must of course be careful with an optimal diet that one does not suddenly achieve an oversupply with an additional intake of AG1 by Athletic Greens. So yes, of course you can cover your nutrient requirements through your daily diet if you can stick to the recommended daily guidelines such as 5 portions of fruit and vegetables and a diet rich in fibre including healthy fats from fish.

AG1 Athletic Greens conclusion

AG1 by Athletic Greens is full of good ingredients, essential nutrients and 75 whole food vitamins, minerals and ingredients. Find out more under Athletic Greens Ingredients. Of course, everyone must check for themselves whether there are any allergies to individual ingredients. So if you really feel worse with than without AG1 by Athletic Greens, we recommend to make use of the 60 day return policy of Athletic Greens. The support of Athletic Greens is extremely friendly, and it is no problem if you send back a half used bag (even empty, it should be no problem). You get your money replaced without any problems. But that is not the rule. Usually you will feel within a few days how you are looking forward to your morning Athletic Greens AG1 Shake.

However, we recommend that you take care to integrate the following nutrients into your daily diet:

  • Vitamin D (there is currently a free promotion from Athletic Greens)
  • Omega 3 (for example one tablespoon of good olive oil)
  • Proteins/Proteins (dairy products, protein powder or simply eggs)
  • dietary fibre (wholemeal bread, pulses, nuts and seeds)

If you want to make it easy, combine Athletic Greens with a meal replacement like Huel, or combine the AG1 Shake with oat flakes, one drop of vitamin D3-K2 oil a banana and nuts to make a delicious bowl or mix it into a satisfying smoothie shake. In such a shake combination, all the above-mentioned points would also be covered. Does AG1 cost you too much? In our opinion, it is sufficient to take only half a portion of AG1 from Athletic Greens with a healthy filling supplement such as YFood or oatmeal with banana and healthy oils, or to eat healthy foods for the rest of the day.

Today, events are coming thick and fast!!! Athletic Greens gives our readers via the following page*advertising for free with any order:
  • An AG1 shaker
  • one bottle of sun-vitamin D3 K2
  • 5 AG1 travel packs
  • A storage tin
  • An aluminum dosing spoon for your daily AG1
The Vitamin D3-K2 oil is currently not available for purchase separately. According to Athletic Greens, one bottle is enough for a whole year and optimizes the effect of Athletic Greens Shake again enormously because many active ingredients can be absorbed especially in combination with an oil. And we don't need to talk about the general benefits of vitamin D3 and K2 here! Athletic Greens has dosed these active ingredients so that they fit optimally to the daily Greens Shake.
