Athletic Greens (AG1) Coffee?

With a morning AG1 shake, most of your nutritional needs are taken care of. But what about my morning coffee? Is it okay to drink AG1 by Athletic Greens along with coffee, or do I really need to wait a half hour or more before drinking my shake? We even went a step further and tried how coffee can be combined with AG1 by Athletic Greens and how that tastes best.

A freshly brewed coffee easily reaches temperatures between 26 – 32 degrees Fahrenheit (80 and 90 degrees Celsius). Unfortunately, this is far too hot for many of the AG1 ingredients and would unnecessarily reduce the effect of the shake. Also, the appearance and taste can not really convince so that we rather advise against this combination.

AG1 milk foam

Many like to drink their coffee with a nice cap of milk foam. So how about a green milk foam? Quasi a coffee in Hulk look? Looks cool in any case. At least in our imagination.

A barista can certainly get a better result from this than we managed. In practice, it is relatively difficult to combine milk foam, which basically consists of small bubbles, with AG1 by Athletic Greens®, which tend to prevent the formation of milk foam. However, you can sprinkle a small pinch of AG1 on solid milk foam:

But then that’s more for a cool look and that certain kick in taste. In terms of health, AG1 by Athletic Greens cannot really unfold its full power with such a small pinch.

By the way: in general, AG1 by Athletic Greens with milk is quite a good variant, which we have also already tried.

Bulletproof Athletic Greens?

By now, most people know about Bulletproof coffee and the health benefits of it. So why not combine your healthy coffee with a healthy AG1 powder? The recipe is relatively simple:

Ingredients:

  • 200 ml of black coffee
  • One tablespoon of fresh pasture butter
  • one tablespoon of coconut oil
  • one tablespoon of AG1 by Athletic Greens

Preparation:

Put everything in a high-powered blender and blend for 30 seconds. The result is a delicious Bulletproof AG1 Athletic Greens Coffee, which really has it in itself.

The benefits are also obvious, because through the butter and coconut oil is enough fat, which even optimizes the utilization of some ingredients of Athletic Greens. Through the mixing process and the combination with room temperature or even refrigerator cold fats, the Bulletproof coffee does not get too hot, so that the ingredients of AG1 Athletic Greens do not suffer unnecessarily.

Disadvantages:

  1. Compared to an Athletic Greens Shake (AG1) on an empty stomach, the body gets with a Bulletproof Coffee directly really much “to do”, so that the nutrient storage can no longer be carried out optimally in case of doubt.
  2. In addition, the preparation of a Bulletproof coffee is significantly more complex than the preparation of an AG1 Shake, which usually takes only 20-30 seconds and can be shaken comfortably and without lumps even without a blender.
  3. The combination of caffeine and AG1 is not optimal for nutrient absorption.

Nutrient supply in combination with coffee secured?

In general, we recommend combining AG1 with water or, in case of doubt, apple juice to ensure optimal processing of the nutrients contained. After all, it would be a shame if the caffeine contained in coffee unnecessarily inhibits nutrient absorption.

So our conclusion is that with a few tricks you can definitely combine AG1 by Athletic Greens with a coffee and especially visually achieve special highlights with it. However, who is concerned with an optimal supply of nutrients, should rather enjoy his AG1 Shake pure as a start to the day and can then treat himself to his coffee or espresso a little later.
